Landscaping

Finished home with relatively new landscaping through a frame of oak trees.

Pale yellow with green shutters - color choice made years ago.

Garage with tractor 'required' to maintain 5 acres - so says Tom. 😇

Notice the grass now planted in front of the house and rocking chairs on the front porch - great for morning coffee!

Screened lanai.

Parautis palm with an understory of Silver Palmetto.  More grass planting required.

Florida Thatch Palm with an understory of Coonties.

Sable (Cabbage) Palms.  We have tried to use native landscaping as much as possible.

Our 'back' yard Live Oak grove.

The road, greatly improved from when we started construction.

Interior

Interior framing, electrical, and plumbing underway.

Having lived in houses with cellars all our lives, it is different to have all the plumbing, wiring, and air-conditioning ducts to be led through the 'attic'.   I quote 'attic', because after all these items are placed up there, there is very little room left for storage of any kind.  This fact, and lack of basements, is why storage units are big business in Florida.

PEX water lines leading to the washer hook-up.

Dry-wall being installed.

The kitchen starts to take shape.

We love lazy-susan storage.

Out free-standing tub.  The windows in the master bath are probably a bit overdone; do you really want to take a bath with two big windows, even if you are in the 'country'.

Pedestal sink for the half bath.

Our master bath shower.  Truly one of our luxury items.

Master bath vanity sink.

'Hers' vanity in the master bath.

Book case in the study.  Although this has worked out to be a great place for all our knick-knacks or memorabilia,  the study ended up a little small.  We have adapted it to a breakfast nook.

Our wide-plank walnut floors.

Interior painting.  Can't have too many fans in a Florida home.

Stucco

House with roofing and 'brown-coat' of stucco.

'Brown-coat' is the first coat of stucco. Side door.

 Master bath

Lanai

'Color coat' of stucco.  Interestingly, we decided on the the color of the house years before we built - pale yellow with green trim.

High-efficency air conditioner/heat pump.
Our house is very energy efficent.  It features the high-efficency unit, a metal roof with spray-in insulation, excellent 'blower-door' test result (measures air tightness), abundant ceiling fans, and an Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV).  Highly recommend an ERV for anyone building a FL house or replacing an air conditioner.  This unit exchanges heat (cool usually) between the outgoing air and the incoming venilation air.

Trusses & Roof

Roof trusses being installed.

Trusses up!
Note they lifted up the roof sheathing with the crane - smart!

Roof Sheathing

Trusses looking up from the floor.  Note the spray-in insulation

Peel-N-Stick Roofing underlayment installed.

Metal roofing being installed.

Electric hookup by LCEC
About a 100' to this pole, then underground to the house.

Temporary electric service

Road where there used to be a 'hole'.
Looks pretty good!
